$ 9.95
- +
In the first episode of the short-lived variety series, singer Steve Lawrence welcomes special guest Lucille Ball, along with series regulars Charles Nelson Reilly and Betty Walker.  Filmed in New York, this episode starts off at Sardi’s where Steve and Lucy ride an elephant down 44th Street on their way to the CBS Studios singing “Together Wherever We Go”. Besides the usual variety hour song and dance and sketches, Lucy shares some behind the scenes from her own series “The Lucy Show” (which aired earlier in the evening) filmed at Marine World which highlights some difficulties working with the dolphins. Plus a segment of clips called “The Many Faces of Lucy.” Complete with original commercials, including one with Barbara Feldon (Get Smart) in a takeoff of “The Girl from UNCLE.” (58 min, B&W)
NOTE: This Monday night variety hour (without Eydie Gorme) lasted only thirteen weeks. It was the last show on CBS to be broadcast in black and white.
