Mr. Sunshine centers on Ben Donovan (Perry), the capable but socially awkward manager of the Sunshine Center, a San Diego sports arena that hosts basketball games, concerts, and just about every logistical nightmare imaginable.

Ben excels at running the arena—but navigating his coworkers proves far more challenging. The staff includes the arena’s icy, power-wielding owner Crystal Cohen (Allison Janney), her hilariously unqualified and bumbling son Roman (Nate Torrence), Ben’s soon-to-be ex-girlfriend Alice (Andrea Anders), Ben’s laid-back best friend Alonzo (James Lesure), and Heather (Portia Doubleday), Ben’s unstable secretary whose erratic behavior catches Roman’s attention.
