ELAINE STRITCH: AT LIBERTY (2002) Elaine Stritch

Elaine Stritch: At Liberty captures the legendary performer at her bold, witty, and deeply personal best in her acclaimed one-woman show, filmed at London’s Old Vic Theatre.

With little more than an oversized shirt, black tights, and a chair, Stritch commands the stage as she looks back on more than 50 years in theatre, film, and television. In her unmistakable style, she shares backstage stories, professional triumphs, painful disappointments, and unforgettable encounters with stars including Noël Coward, Judy Garland, Rock Hudson, and Ethel Merman.

Part memoir, part theatrical event, and part musical performance, At Liberty features Stritch reflecting on her career with candor and humor while performing signature numbers including “Zip” and “The Ladies Who Lunch.”

Winner of the 2002 Tony Award for Special Theatrical Event, Elaine Stritch: At Liberty is a rare and powerful portrait of a true Broadway original.
