BAD NEWS BEARS, THE - THE COMPLETE SERIES (CBS 1979-1980) HARD TO FIND!!! Jack Warden, Catherine Hicks, Phillip Richard Allen, Sparky Marcus, Meeno Peluce Corey Feldman, Shane Butterworth, Kristoff St. John, Charles Nunez, Danny Nunez, Tricia Cast

A spin-off of the 1976 film of the same name, The Bad News Bears follows the adventures of former minor-league baseball player Morris Buttermaker (Jack Warden), who is forced to coach the hopeless little-league team from Hoover Junior High School in Santa Barbara, California, after getting into trouble with the law for driving a client's car into a swimming pool.

The Hoover Bears are the worst team in the league, boasting a roster of the most inept and undisciplined players in school. With the help of school principal Dr. Emily Rappant (Catherine Hicks), Buttermaker gradually earns the respect of his players and transforms the team into a competitive club, even managing to win a few games along the way.

Among the Bears is 11-year-old Amanda Wurlitzer (Tricia Cast), the team's talented star pitcher, who takes ballet lessons, dreams of becoming a model, and considers baseball just a passing phase. Her famous two-and-a-half-foot curveball is a trick she learned from Buttermaker. The team also includes overweight catcher Mike Engelberg (J. Brennan Smith), shy right fielder Timmy Lupus (Shane Butterworth), and speedy switch-hitter Ahmad Abdul-Rahim (Kristoff St. John), whose idol is Hank Aaron.

The Bears' roster is rounded out by a colorful collection of young players, including Leslie Ogilvie (Sparky Marcus), Tanner Boyle (Meeno Peluce), Rudi Stein (Billy Jayne), Regi Tower (Corey Feldman), Miguel Agilar (Charles Nunez), Jose Agilar (Danny Nunez), Frosty (Bill Lazarus), Kelly Leak (Gregg Forrest), and Josh Matthews (Rad Daly). Persephanie Silverthorn appears as a student, while Sherrie Wills plays Marsha.

Their biggest rivals are the Lions, coached by Roy Turner (Phillip Richard Allen), as the two teams battle for the championship.
