BUSTER KEATON RIDES AGAIN / THE RAILRODDER (1965)

$ 12.95
- +

In 1965, the Canadian tourist office made a 25-minute color short, The Railrodder. The movie starred Buster Keaton, in one of his final films, as an old man's who takes a tour across Canada on a railroad cart, passing the splendor of the country's most spectacular landmarks.  The trip is loaded with wonderful sight gags showcasing Keaton's trademark slapstick comedy.

Also included on this DVD is "Buster Keaton Rides Again", a 50-minute black and white documentary about making "The Railrodder". Here we see some of the techniques and discussions about making the film, but best of all is seeing Buster offstage. The real Buster is not very different than the on-screen Buster, but now he talks, and now we see him and the team devising the various scenes, and we see Buster's relationship with his wife. There are many clips and stills of his early work in vaudeville, starting at age 5, and of some of his silent films.

This DVD is a must-have for every Buster Keaton fan or lover of silent comedy films.
