This compelling ABC drama stars James Franciscus as Mike Longstreet, a brilliant insurance investigator for the Great Pacific Casualty Insurance Company in New Orleans. Following months of rehabilitation at the Oakhurst Clinic under the guidance of Dr. Dan Stockton (John McIntire), Longstreet learns to rely on his heightened senses, masters Braille, and returns to work with renewed determination. Assisted by his loyal white German Shepherd guide dog, Pax, his capable assistant Nikki Bell (Marlyn Mason), and his longtime friend and supervisor Duke Paige (Peter Mark Richman), Longstreet continues solving complex cases involving murder, kidnapping, insurance fraud, and organized crime.

Adding a unique dimension to the series are several memorable appearances by martial arts legend Bruce Lee as Li Tsung, who teaches Longstreet the principles of self-defense, confidence, and awareness—episodes that have become classics among Bruce Lee fans.

Premiering as an ABC Movie of the Week before becoming a weekly series, Longstreet aired during the 1971–1972 television season. Created by Academy Award-winning writer Stirling Silliphant (In the Heat of the Night), the series was praised for its intelligent storytelling, realistic portrayal of blindness, and outstanding performances.
