Born Marion Robert Morrison in 1907, the Academy Award-winning actor, was first introduced to the film industry as an undergraduate student in California, where he worked on the Fox film lot. Before long, Wayne was on camera, appearing in numerous films before landing his breakthrough role in the 1939 John Ford classic, Stagecoach. In this candid portrait, biography chronicles the life and career of “Duke” through clips and intimate interviews with friends, family, and colleagues, including Angie Dickinson and Charlton Heston. This feature details the over 200 films Wayne starred in before finally winning an Oscar, and shows excerpts from his poignant final role in the 1976 western The Shootist.
