ROLLIN' ON THE RIVER: REMEMBER THE '70S GREATEST HITS LIVE (2004) HARD TO FIND!!! Kenny Rogers and the First Edition, Jim Croce, Bill Withers, Al Green, Tina Turner, BB King
Before becoming a global country-pop icon, Kenny Rogers was fronting the genre-blending late-’60s group Kenny Rogers and the First Edition. With five Top 40 hits — including the unforgettable “Ruby, Don’t Take Your Love To Town” and the psychedelic smash “Just Dropped In (To See What Condition My Condition Was In)” — the band’s popularity led to a November 1970 television special titled Rollin’ On The River.
The response was so strong that CBS transformed it into a weekly music/variety series, retitled Rollin’, airing from 1971 to 1973.
A true time capsule of early-’70s television, Rollin’ brought together the biggest names in pop, rock, soul, and R&B — capturing an era when popular music effortlessly crossed genres and audiences. Hosted by drummer Mickey Jones, this collection features 14 beautifully restored performances from the series archives.
