The remarkable true story of Hollywood legend Judy Garland is vividly told in this multi-award-winning 2001 film. Based on the 1998 book Me and My Shadows: A Family Memoir written by Judy Garland’s daughter Lorna Luft, this two-part miniseries chronicles Garland's life from her first public performance in 1924 and her rise to fame in the 1930s, to her descent into drugs and her fall from grace in the 1950s, her marriages to Vincent Minnelli and Sid Luft, her successful return to movies with A Star Is Born, concert performances, her personal issues and her untimely death at the age of 47.
Loved by millions the world over, Judy was the brightest star in Hollywood's Golden Era. Away from the bright lights and brilliant performances, her devotion was to her family, but while she loved her children unconditionally, they could only desperately try and hang on to their mother as a powerful dependence on alcohol and prescription drugs began to consume her life.
Judy Davis' performance of Judy Garland was critically acclaimed: she won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Miniseries or a Movie and a Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Miniseries or TV Movie. Notable actors included Hugh Laurie, Victor Gerber, Tammy Blanchard, Marsha Mason and Al Waxman. Narrated by Cynthia Gibb. Also includes a Behind the Scenes feature and a deleted scene. (170 min, Aspect Ratio: Full Frame1.33:1, 2-DVDs)
