In Police Story, Cassidy stars as undercover police officer Dan Shay, who poses as a high school student to infiltrate a dangerous drug ring. His powerful performance earned him an Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series. Cassidy reprised the role for Man Under Cover, which aired on NBC from November 2, 1978, through July 12, 1979.
