Before Top Gun there was Steve Canyon!

Steve Canyon aired on NBC between September 13, 1958, and September 8, 1959, with Chesterfield cigarettes as the sponsor. It is based upon the cartoon strip created by Milton Caniff. All 34 black & white episodes have been expertly re-mastered and retain all of the commercial spots.

Colonel Steve Canyon (Dean Fredericks) was originally a globe-hopping pilot and troubleshooter for the US Air Force, working on all manners of exciting and perilous assignments and investigations. Around halfway through the series, Canyon became the commander of the (fictitious) Big Thunder Air Force Base – though still managed to find himself mixed up with robberies, hijackings, kidnappings, blackmail, assassination plots, murder and Nazi war criminals.

The series was made with the full cooperation of the USAF at an unheard of (for the time) production budget of $1.6 million.
