Caveman is a wildly imaginative slapstick comedy written and directed by Carl Gottlieb and starring Ringo Starr, Dennis Quaid, Shelley Long, Barbara Bach, John Matuszak, Jack Gilford, Avery Schreiber, Carl Lumbly, and Richard Moll.

Set in the Stone Age, the film follows Atouk (Ringo Starr), a gentle and clever caveman who lives on the fringes of his tribe, ruled by the brutish and powerful Tonda (John Matuszak). Atouk longs for Lana (Barbara Bach), Tonda’s beautiful mate, but his affection is hopelessly unreturned. While wandering with his loyal friend Lar (Dennis Quaid), Atouk meets the spirited cavewoman Tala (Shelley Long). After rescuing her blind father, Gog (Jack Gilford), from a tar pit, Atouk earns Tala’s admiration and love.

As Atouk’s intelligence and kindness begin to win over other outcasts, he rises to become the leader of a misfit tribe and ultimately challenges Tonda for control of the clan—and for Lana herself. But true leadership, Atouk discovers, isn’t about brute strength or conquest, but about choosing a mate who is truly worthy and loving.

With its made-up “caveman language,” visual gags, and prehistoric parody of modern romance and society, Caveman is a charming and absurd comedy that blends physical humor with heart, delivering a unique and unforgettable Stone Age love story.
